Stake Conference Weekend

Our Stake Conference was this weekend, and with the need to reorganize our Stake Presidency, Elder Ballard was the visiting apostle. It was a joy to listen to him and his wise counsel, and also appreciate his wit and sense of humor.

Some of the various counsel give in the various talks are as follows,

1. If you wish to become a zion people and a person that is pure in heart follow the promptings of the spirit and do it right away. Do not put it off.

2. Listen and be Still. Find times in our busy days, and activities of distraction to separate ourselves and listen to the promptings and spirit of God.

3. Obseve covenants by EVERY sacrifice

4. Our Trial is Can we BE Faithful?

5. Whenever you have the opportunity to be in the presence of one of the 15 Apostles, prophets, seers, you will ALWAYS be lifted.

6. Ask what can these men see? Lucifer wants us to be blind and these Seers will open our eyes.

7. Take care of the poor and needy. Not just through Fast Offerings but through other charitable organizations that benefit the community not just those that are members of our faith.

8. Remember our value in God's eyes.

9. One of my favorite Scriptures was read by a member of the Temple Presidency.

Alma 7:23-25

23 And now I would that ye should be
humble, and be submissive and gentle; easy to be entreated; full of patience and long-suffering; being temperate in all things; being diligent in keeping the commandments of God at all times; asking for whatsoever things ye stand in need, both spiritual and temporal; always returning thanks unto God for whatsoever things ye do receive.

24 And see that ye have faith, hope, and charity, and then ye will always abound in good works.

25 And may the Lord bless you, and keep your garments spotless, that ye may at last be brought to sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and the holy prophets who have been ever since the world began, having your garments spotless even as their garments are spotless, in the kingdom of heaven to go no more out.
10. Although there is manifestations in Callings from God, they mean nothing until voted upon by common consent from the congregations. This is part of the law of witnesses.
I hope some of those thoughts and ideas make sense, and give you something to ponder and think about as they have given me.
