I am grateful for..... Living

I am really grateful to be alive in this day and age. Can you imagine what it was like to live 100 years ago or more. What would it have been like to live in the dark ages, when medicine was a deadly as the diseases that would be treated? When religion persecution was rampant, and illiteracy was forced?

To be alive today, when so many advances and discoveries are happening everyday that it is hard to keep up, when an extremely premature baby can be born and saved.
To be able to communicate with people from all over the globe?
Sure there are problems in the world, sometimes life seems bleak, but would that not have been the case centuries ago? Different problems for a different age?
I think I would rather have the problems of today with the marvelous inventions, comforts, and things that bring joy and happiness than that of years, and years ago.

Sometimes I think we panic to much in today's world. I think we take for granted what we have.
Instead of looking forward, people complain and whine about what they do not have. We forget to look at what we do have.
Education is free in this country, to all who want to participate. There are programs to help people get degrees in college, all it takes is some good planning, dedication and hard work.
Instead of litigation we should be looking to help each other. Not forced, not the government saying we should, but service and help because we have something to give.
I think we have lots to give to each other, not just money or supplies, or a chance at freedom. We have a chance to give of ourselves and improve one another's state of well being and joy.
I know it will happen when the time is right. I know much will happen that is not pretty or comforting, but look at what has happened that is.
I think we have much to be grateful to be living at a time like this.

Today I am grateful to be living.
