Game Idea- Blokus

My mother gave Michael a game last year that was Mensa's best mind game of the year in 2003, Blokus. This game is very simple to play, all you have to do is place your colored shapes on the board, and to get as many squares played as possible in your color. Sounds easy, but it can be challenging by the end. We have never been able to play all our shapes so the challenge is to plan your moves to keep your options open while trying to keep your opponents options limited. The game is for 1 to 4 players. You can play it solitaire to try to get all the pieces on the board. With two players you each take two colors. I don't remember how it is played for three, sorry we have always played 2 or 4 of us. The first person to play has the advantage, the last person to play is at a disadvantage, so we try to let the kids play first when we play. There is also a set rotation in the play, I think it is blue, yellow, green, red, but I could be wrong, the rules tell it all.

The hardest thing we have have found is to remember whose turn it is when we play with two people. It gets confusing to remember who played when and what color! Still we have fun with it and it gets the mind working just a little bit.
